1st Principal/PTA Coffee Talk of the Year

We are having our 1st Principal and PTA Coffee Talk of the school year on Friday, October 28th, from 9:00am until 10:30am.  Fire Chief Joe Sanford and Deputy City Manager Marilynne Beard will be providing an update on the fire station project across the street. They will discuss the current status, as well as timing and will be able to answer any question or concerns that we may have about the project. Don’t miss this opportunity to your questions answered.

All are welcome and coffee will be provided.  Just check into the office to get a visitor pass and then head down to the Art & Science room.

What is your Story?

Entries for REFLECTIONS are DUE to the front office by this FRIDAY, OCT 28th!  Forms and rules for each category can be found outside of the school office.  Or you can go to the website below to learn more.

Literacy Night and Book Fair – Volunteers Needed!

Juanita’s Book Fair(11/3-11/4) and Literacy Night (11/3) are both coming up and our librarian, Mr. Triplett, is looking for volunteers. This is a great way to help out the school without a big time commitment. Plus, there are morning, afternoon and evening shifts.

OR if you can’t volunteer, but would like to make a refreshments donation, that would also be greatly appreciated.

We did it!

We did it!  Not only did the rain hold out, but the day was a ton of fun as we ran to the music of DJ Jeff Nelson. We are also excited to report that our current fundraising grand total is $35,549.

We are so proud of our school and what we can do when we all come together. 100% of what we receive will be used to fund current programs at the school, our school staff, students needs and school building requests.

Thank you to each of you for your donations of time and money.   Also, a big shout out to these companies in particular that donated and helped us to make Jag-a-thon a success and fun for our families.

Let’s Get Walking

Today was a great morning to start off Walk to School Week. Our families loved seeing Ped Bee, Jesse our Jaguar and our amazing Kirkland Firefighters and City of Kirkland Police Department officers. Thank you City of Kirkland for helping to set this fun event up with our PTA.

Walk to School Week

Walk to School Week is from Oct. 3rd – Oct. 7th.

Please remember that on Monday morning (10/3) the parking lot will be CLOSED as we host our local fire and police departments. You can park in the Rite Aid parking lot and walk your child to school, so please plan for a few extra minutes on Monday morning.

1 Week Until $ is Due!

Have your kids been talking to you about Jag-a-thon?   Our fun run will take place on Friday, October 7th, however in order to qualify for prizes, all donations are due by Wednesday morning, October 5th.  We hope that each family participates in anyway that they can.  If we reach our school goal of $30,000 (about $85 per student) our students will not only get to enjoy a fun all-school assembly, but it will also mean that there will be no more major fundraisers this school year.  To make an online donation click on the “JAG-A-THON” tab above.

We love our Family Movie Nights!

Holiday Bazaar

Have you heard yet about our Holiday Bazaar?  Check out this flyer and if you know anyone that may be interested in hosting a table, please share it with them.

Get READY to RUN! Jag-a-thon 2016

Today, JAG-A-THON, officially kicked-off.  Our “fun run” will be held on Friday, October 7th.  Ask your kids who came to visit them, what movie trailer they watched and then ask to see their Jag-a-thon manila envelope.

This is our school’s primary fundraiser and if we all come together and hit our goal ($85 per student), this will be our ONLY PTA sponsored major fundraiser of the year. What that means to you is no more fundraisers where we ask your family to sell “stuff”.

You can learn more, get a copy of the paperwork, or make an online donation here

Spirit Day and Popcorn Friday

This Friday is our 1st Spirit Day and Popcorn Friday of the year!  Have your student wear RED (our school color or Seahawk blue – if you are a Seahawks fan) and bring a couple quarters to school with them.  Students are allowed to purchase 1-2 bags of popcorn bags during their lunch recess. Each bag is 50 cents.

Or simplify things for the year, complete and send in the Popcorn Pre-Purchase form. You can print and complete one now by following this link:

You can be an Art Docent too!

Looking for a way to work with your kids and their classmates occasionally? Consider volunteering as an Art Docent. Lesson plans will be provided so minimal prep work and leading the class is the extent of this commitment. We are planning 6-7 projects for the year, generally 1 per month, and would like 2-3 volunteers for each class. Optional training is scheduled for September 22nd at 6pm or September 30th at 9am.

To ask for more details or request to help out in a specific classroom, email

Welcome Kindergarten Families!

On Friday, we welcome our kindergarten students to our Juanita family.  For those families, please join us for a First Day Coffee.  Check into the school and then come to our Art & Science room to some coffee, breakfast treats and tissues for this very exciting (and emotional) first day!kindergarten-first-day-coffee

PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is one of the most important groups you can join, especially while your child is in grade school.   Our goal is to give each child a voice.   For those that want to be involved and perhaps don’t have the time to volunteer, this is the way to do it!

To sign up for a membership, you can do it online at  or follow this link and print off a Membership form.  Once completed you can mail in the form, turn it in to the school office or simply give it to your child to give to their teacher.

Here are 10 Reasons Why Joining the PTA is IMPORTANT!

It’s good for your child

It’s important to the school.

You’ll get connected.

You’ll be a part of a network.

You’ll make a difference.

It’s fun!

You’ll be a role model

You’ll help raise necessary funds.

It’s flexible.

It’s for EVERY parent and guardian.

Ready, set, go….

To help make the back to school transition easier, here is a printable calendar for the month of September. It has some important school and PTA dates already added. Print and add your own family commitments.

Please note that the 1st Wednesday is NOT a typical early release day. School will end at 3:30pm that day. Also, our Kindergartners start school on Friday, September 9th.

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”

Juanita’s annual Meet & Greet and PTA sponsored Ice Cream Social always marks the beginning of a new school year.  If today’s turnout and smiles are any indication of how the year will go, we are predicting it’s going to be a very good one.

Thank you to staff and teachers for welcoming in our families.  Finally, to all the vendors and volunteers who helped to make this event a success, thanks for supporting our community!
