Making a Difference on Earth Day!

Our 3rd annual Clothing and Textile drive with Clothes for the Cause and our Kirkland community was our most successful one yet.   Together our school community along with the families at Mark Twain, Peter Kirk and A.G. Bell brought in 1,405 bags of clothing and textile items to be reused or recycled.   These are all items that will be kept out of our growing national landfills.   Thank you to everyone that volunteered, donated items and worked together to spread the word and make a difference!

Earth Day Clothing and Textile Drive – 2 Weeks Left!

Our Earth Day Clothing and Textile Drive is quickly approaching.   So far we have collected nearly 400 bags and are making good progress.   However, our goal is 1000 bags or 3 bags per student.

Together we can make this happen.    Talk to your neighbors, share our flyer on social media or email your family and friends.   It’s spring and everyone likes to purge, while also helping out kids and our planet.    In the meantime keep collecting and help us keep those items out of our national landfills.

Carnival Volunteers – NEEDED!

Looking for a fun way to help?   Carnival is coming to Juanita Elementary School on Friday, April 28th from 6-8:30pm and we need volunteers to run it!  We need people (6th grade and up) to run games, serve food, paint faces, and take pies in the face (men only).    The night has been divided into 2 shifts, so you can work a shift and still have time to enjoy carnival with your family.  It’s a Where’s Waldo theme so make sure to wear Red and White!

Please go to to sign up today!

Newly Released….SING!

Join us for a fun family movie night on Friday, March 24th!   The movie SING is released that week and we have a copy coming our way.  Gym doors will be open at 6pm, so make the night easy and come and have some pizza and popcorn with school friends before the movie starts at 6:30.

Fill Those Garbage Bags… 3rd Annual Clothing and Textile Drive

Keep filling those garbage bags full of new or used clothing and textiles.   Our 3rd Annual Clothes for the Cause Clothing and Textile Drive is in full swing.    Our goal is to collect 1000 filled garbage bags and we need your help!

Thank You Veteran’s!

Today was a very special morning. We honored our local veteran’s and came together to recognize our great country. The diverse group of individuals that filled our gym represent our past, present and future. Our children thanked the veterans for their service and sang many songs including the Song of Peace.

Special thanks to veteran, Anthony Lehrer, for your engaging message. Reminding us that each person matters, that it’s important to always put your best self forward and that we need to look out for one another as parts of a whole, will not soon be forgotten.

Also, thank you to our local Boy Scouts, Girls Scout, Brownie and Cub Scout troops for conducting the flag ceremony.

The Gift of Reading

We want to thank our Juanita educators for putting on another fabulous Literacy Night for our families.  While the PTA runs many events, this one is spearheaded by our incredible teachers. These educators put in numerous hours planning this event and each donated their time tonight. They are passionate about reading and giving our children the gift of literacy.

Thank again for the fun night and a special shout out to Mrs. Peoples and Mr. T for making this event and book-fair a reality.

Let’s Get Inspired!

Ask your kids about Gabe Murfitt, a motivational speaker, who came to Juanita today to share his story. Gabe was born with a rare birth defect that affected his legs and arms. We hope your children were inspired by Gabe’s story and were motivated by his C.L.E.A.R. message.

You can learn a little more about Gabe here or

**This assembly was funded by your PTA and the fundraising dollars you helped to bring during Jag-a-thon. We are proud to support our school in these type of enrichment programs and assemblies.**

Too Much Candy?

Does a fun night of Trick-or-Treating turn in to too much candy?  Neal Smiles Orthodontics will buy back that candy at $1 a pound AND match that $1 per pound to our PTA.    Dr. Neal will then send the candy collected to our military troops.   Win-win for everyone!
