Help us end hunger here at Juanita Elementary and throughout the community. https://feedwashington.networkforgood.com/projects/40918-juanita-elementary-preschool-s-fundraiser
The 2nd annual Juanita Holiday Bazaar was so much fun. We had a great turnout and it was nice to see the community rally around these talented crafters, artisans and small business owners while also supporting our kids and school. Thank you to everyone that participated, shopped and donated at this bazaar.
We are proud to report that our school collected 201 pounds and with help from other neighboring schools and community members over 2,400 pounds was donated to Northwest Harvest. Additionally, Neal Smiles Orthodontics will be donating money to our outdoor education program. The classroom that donated the most in weight and who has won a classroom lunch pizza party is Mr. Evans 4th grade class with 46 pounds!
Come and join us for our 2nd Annual Juanita Holiday Bazaar on December 2nd.
With over 50 vendors, it’s a great time to shop for the holiday’s and find that unique gift for your friends and family.
This is a community event where all are welcome. We will have live music, warm treats and an amazing selection of goods to purchase from our talented vendors. Plus, in addition to supporting local businesses and community members you are also supporting our kids and the elementary school’s outdoor education program.
We want your candy! Well just the pieces you don’t want to consume. Neal Smiles Orthodontics is sponsoring a Candy Buy Back event. For each pound collected, Dr. Neal, will donate $2 to our outdoor ed. program and ultimately will donate the candy collected to Northwest Harvest. Plus, the classroom that collects the most in weight will win a pizza party! Check your child’s backpack for more information. We will be collecting on Thursday 11/2 and Friday 11/3 before and after school.
Have your kids talked about Juanita’s new playground bars? Did you know that playground equipment is funded by your PTA?
Last year the school brought up a want for playground bars. Fortunately with savings from previous Jag-a-thon’s, support from our PTA members and and also a grant from the Juanita School’s Foundation we were able to cover this expense and make it happen. We spent months working with the district to get them approved and were excited to see them recently installed and the kids already enjoying them. This is just one of the ways your PTA donation dollars help to support kids and our school!
Save the date for our 1st Family Movie Night of the year on Friday, October 27th. We will be showing Hotel Transylvania 2.
Since it falls right before Halloween, we are turning the evening into a fun Harvest Party Costume Showcase. Bring your entire family, let your kid’s showcase their fun costumes (dressing up is not required) and join us for a pizza dinner.
This is a free event, however donations are greatly appreciated and benefit outdoor education. Concessions will be available for purchase and are cash only.
Today’s Jag-a-thon was incredible. The weather stayed clear, we saw a lot of smiling faces and we surpassed our goal and raised over $37,000!
Special thanks to our 70+ LWSD approved volunteers that helped to make the event run smoothly, our Juanita staff for the support, our awesome DJ for the music, visitors in the Jaguar Jungle that cheered on our runners, the companies that donated items and to all our families that fundraised and helped us reach our school goal. This is definitely a team effort and we couldn’t have done it without each of you.
Prizes will be announced at the end of next week and physical prizes will go home in approximately 3-4 weeks.
What a beautiful morning to walk to school and visit with some of Kirkland’s finest. Special thanks to the City of Kirkland, Kirkland Firefighters, Officer Davidson (City of Kirkland Police Department), Jon Pascal and Cassandra Sage for visiting with our families this morning! Plus our kids love their new reflective vests courtesy of Northshore Utility District.
It’s the final weekend of fundraising before our Jag-a-thon next Friday. Remember money is due on Tuesday morning (10/3) in order to be eligible for prizes.
Our goal is to have ALL families participate and if each student brings in $85 we will be able to continue to bring great programs to Juanita and help to enrich our children’s education and the school itself. Plus, if you have friends or family that live far away, tell them it’s easy to make a tax-deductible donation online in your child’s name at http://juanitael.digitalpto.com/jag-a-thon/
For those curious where the donated money goes, here’s a glimpse into how your PTA uses it to make a difference at school and why we fundraise.

Today with Jesse’s help we kicked off Jag-a-thon, which to our new families, is our school’s “fun run” and primary fundraiser. Ask your kids about their special guests today and to see the manila envelope they came home with.
The event itself will take place on Friday, October 6th and we will need many volunteers. So please make sure to get your volunteer forms in and your LWSD background checks, if you haven’t finished that yet.

Viewing the news, we are all devastated to see the damage caused in TX by Hurricane Harvey and now our friends in FL and the southeastern states brace for Hurricane Irma. Many of our members, have been asking us for ways they can help students and school communities affected by hurricanes. We would like to suggest the following:
You can go directly to the Texas PTA:
By making a donation here, you will be helping to provide direct assistance to students and classrooms affected in Texas.
Also, our National PTA has a Disaster Relief Fund established. Per the National PTA President Jim Accomando: “National PTA urges everyone to donate to our association’s Disaster Relief Fund, which was established to respond to tragedies that grievously disrupt a school or education system. National PTA’s Disaster Relief Fund is expected to be fully depleted by our support of schools impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. We know we can count on our PTA members across the country to help replenish the fund to meet the emerging needs caused by Hurricane Irma.”
You can donate to the National PTA Disaster Relief Fund here:
We survived! Students, teachers, staff, parents, and families all came through with flying colors. Thanks to everyone that stopped by at our 1st day coffee and to those that helped with Back to School packets.
For our incoming kindergarten families we’ll be hosting another coffee next Monday after dropping off your children. We look forward to welcoming you to our school community.
